"K&D Staking Tool Punches and Stumps"
8 pages Undated Likely post-1963 based on use of zipcode in the earlier Water St. address. Likely pre-1972 based on company name. Found with an Inverto 18R Deluxe set, frame s/n S72219 I found this version of the tools list while Googling around for Inverto information. Steve Statts has a picture of his Inverto 18R Deluxe set on his web site and tucked up inside the lid was this booklet. I didn't recognize the cover, so I emailed Steve and he generously agreed to scan it for me. Steve sent some low resolution scans around very quickly so that we could see if there was any new information that would warrant going to the trouble of making high resolution versions. There is new information in the booklet, and Steve has, again very generously, scanned all of the pages at 600dpi so I could make clean versions. I took a few times back and forth to get a great set of scans and Steve was very patient. Below are screen resolution scans of each page, a download link for the high resolution file, and some comments about the unique information found on each page. |

Page 1 (Front Cover)
This cover contains enough clues to give an approximate date for the booklet, even lacking any explicit date information. The address used has a 5 digit zip code, indicating a date likely after 1963, when zip codes were introduced. The lack of a "Zip+4" code, introduced in 1983, isn't a strong clue that the booklet is pre-1983 since even today, many mailers omit the last four digits. The company name used is that prior to the incorporation of "K&D Manufacturing Corporation" in 1972. The cover also shows the early Water St. address, as opposed to the later Bank St. address associated with K&D Manufacturing Corporation. See below for a comparison of the content of this booklet with that of the 1961 catalog and the 1972 or later catalog excerpt. The comparison also points to this booklet having been produced in between those two documents. So, call this likely to have been printed between 1963-1972. |

Page 2
First page of the stake list. There are a number of differences in this list compared to the 1961 catalog and the later catalog excerpt. Compared to page 8 of the 1961 catalog, punches Nos. 2-6 have been added but are not shown as included in any set. Nos. 16,17, and 18 are still listed, but no longer shown as included in the Inverto 18R/18L/18B sets. Punches 20A, 21A, and 22A are now shown as included in the Inverto 18R/18L/18B sets. In the list on page 12 of the later catalog excerpt, Nos. 2-6 have been deleted again and Nos. 16, 17, and 18 have been added and thus are presumed to be included in the 18R/18L/18B sets. The addition of Nos. 20A, 21A, and 22A is maintained. |

Page 3
Second page of the stake list. Stakes listed are the same as those on page 9 of the 1961 catalog, but a few of the dimensions have changed. The new dimensions carry forward into the list on page 13 of the later catalog excerpt. Changes are: No. 108 was 2.23mm, here 2.36mm No. 116 was 2.23mm, here 2.36mm No. 121 was 0.76mm, here 0.79mm No. 122 was 0.25mm, here 0.70mm |

Page 4
First page of the stump list. This list, like the ones in the 1961 catalog and later catalog excerpt, appears to be a comprehensive list of all K&D stumps, not a list of the stumps that were included in any particular set. Appears identical to page 10 of the 1961 catalog. Pages 14 and 15 of the later catalog excerpt list far fewer stumps. |

Page 5
Second page of the stump list. Text only entries for two additional stumps have been jammed into a layout apparently identical to page 11 of the 1961 catalog. New stumps are: "Riveting Stump No. 84" "Solid V-Slot No. 101" Page 15 of the later catalog excerpt maintains the inclusion of No. 101 and provides a picture. No. 84 is also included on Page 14, but the description has changed to "Roller Stump Remover, Medium, with 3 spaced slots". It doesn't seem likely that, with such different descriptions , these two stumps are actually the same despite their having the same number. |
