The originals of these price lists are in the collection of the National Museum of American History, part of The Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC. Many thanks to Mr. Paul McCutcheon, Senior Reference Librarian at the NMAH, for his assistance in making these available.
The primary conclusion from these lists is that by early 1988, the K&D staking tool product line had narrowed to focus on two models of the Inverto 600 and two models of the Inverto 18. They also demonstrate the use of the rectangular K&D logo by 1988. The 1978 Inverto 18R build sheet establishes an earliest date known so far for the use of this logo.
A curious fact: between March 1988 and September 1988, the price of the Inverto 18R Deluxe stayed constant, while the price of the Inverto 18B increase from $602.50 to $694.50, a 15% increase. It seems unlikely that the manufacturing cost of one set changed by such a large amount while the other set stayed constant. Perhaps the content of the Inverto 18B set was expanded before September 1988? Or perhaps K&D realized that they had previously underpriced the 18B set. In 1965, the 18R cost about 30% more than the 18B ($123.50 vs $94). This is about the same difference as shown below in March 1988.
Note that the Inverto 600 tools are not shown in the September price list. This could simply be a condensed price list or perhaps the Inverto 600 tools were discontinued sometime in 1988.
